Welcome to The Weekly Bullet
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. - Oscar Wilde.
We often see the first part of this quote, but not the latter which points to the mediocrity of what one is currently doing when imitating greatness. It’s a reminder that we all start out mediocre (if that) at the beginning with any new project or endeavor.
I’m at the beginning of my personal blog journey, and I’m looking for ideas and structure from others who have already found success.
I subscribe to the Tim Ferriss 5-Bullet Friday newsletter and have always appreciated and connected with the idea that everything doesn’t have to be a fully flushed-out idea to write about it. We live in a world of information overload and most of our thoughts and ideas are fleeting, but no less relevant from the perspective of who are we and what is shaping us. They’re part of our mental dairy in life.
I think this is at the heart of what a personal blog or newsletter is all about. Simply sharing. These fleeting thoughts are also why I started using Obsidian and keeping a daily log, but more on that in an upcoming post.
I’m taking a similar approach and doing a Weekly Bullet post where I’ll list a few highlights from the week. This way I can share small snippets of what is shaping me based on what I’m reading, watching, thinking about, and projects I’m working on.
Hopefully, this approach will allow me to more easily capture content to share throughout the week, but also select subjects that I may want to do a deeper dive on. Stay tuned for the first Weekly Bullet post later today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The secret of success is in turning that diary into the best story you possibly can.Douglas Pagels
